My Language Time keeps a diary of your minutes. Immersed plans the day they go into.
My Language Time is a small, free Android app: you write down the movie, podcast, video or book, how long, and a note, and it shows your streak. Nothing leaves your phone. Immersed starts from a different idea: minutes are one number, and what you did in them is what moves you, so every session is one of nine immersion activities with a rating of how much you understood. Immersed is a language immersion tracker and planner. It turns immersion into something you can see, plan and keep: a free plan built from your answers, a daily timeline for the shows, podcasts and books you learn from, and reports of your hours.
Free. About two minutes. No account, no card.
The short version
Checked October 24, 2026.
Something out of date? Tell me.
If you want the simplest possible log on an Android phone, free, offline, no account and no permissions, My Language Time does exactly that and nothing more.
If you want a plan for how much to immerse and where it fits in your day, a timer that knows passive listening from active subtitles, ideas for what to watch next, and reports that show what your hours were made of, Immersed is built for that. Immersed costs money for the tracker part; My Language Time does not.
01Before you start
A diary waits for you. A plan tells you what today looks like.
My Language Time opens on today: minutes so far, a progress bar toward your daily goal (20 minutes by default), your streak and your last few entries. It is calm and quick. It assumes you already know what you will watch and when.
Immersed starts one step earlier. A free blueprint, about two minutes of questions, sets milestones for your first months, a daily protocol, and Hidden Immersion Time: the commute, the dishes, the gym, where passive listening fits. The timeline then turns that into a day from Wake up to Wind down that you tick off.
- Free blueprint in about two minutes, no account needed (just a name and email)
- Plan tasks into the free gaps of your day, repeat them, get reminders
- The Fluency Checklist for what to put in place next, and with Pro a monthly Sprint of one Mission and Daily Quests

02Logging it
Four media types and a note, or nine activities and a timer.
In My Language Time an entry is a media type (movie, podcast, video or book), a language, minutes, a title, a note and a date. You type the minutes in after the fact. That is the whole system, and for many people that is the point.
Immersed has a timer: press play, pick one of nine activities (Active Listening, Passive Listening, Active Subtitles, Reading, Study, SRS, Speaking, Writing, Shadowing), stop, and it lands on your timeline. Paste a YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts link and it plays inside the session. Rate how much you understood. Forgot to press play? Log it afterward.
- The play button can default to one activity, like Passive Listening on the commute
- Comprehension rating after each session, charted over time
- Immersed doesn't read your viewing history: you press play (one click on YouTube with Immersed for Chrome) or log it. The Discover scroll and the free listening games log themselves

03What to put on
Immersed also suggests what to watch, listen to and read.
My Language Time records what you chose. It doesn't suggest anything, and it isn't trying to.
Immersed comes with an Immersion Library in 22 languages, built around the platforms native speakers use, and the free blueprint gives you picks from the main platforms for Watch, Listen and Read. Discover is a feed of creators and podcasts in your language, in 11 languages, and scrolling it logs itself as immersion.

04Looking back
A total of minutes, or what the minutes were made of.
My Language Time's stats screen shows total time per language, minutes today and this week, your streak, goal completion, weekly progress bars and your best language by minutes. Everything stays on the device. The Play listing describes no export or backup, so if you lose the phone, check whether you lose the diary.
Immersed's Growth page covers week, month, year and all time with your hours stacked by the nine activities: how much was a podcast in the background, how much was a show with target-language subtitles, how much was reading or speaking. A comprehension line shows whether you understand more over time, and your top shows and channels are listed with links back to them.
That mix is what explains progress. Your 1,000 hours and someone else's 1,000 are not the same hours, which is how a learner two months in can be ahead of one six months in. Export a PDF, Excel or CSV you can customize, keep monthly reports in My reports, or share a report link.

What My Language Time does well
- Completely free, with no account, no login and no internet needed
- Private by design: the listing says no data is collected or shared and the app asks for no permissions
- Fast to use: one screen to add an entry, with today picked by default
- Notes on every entry, so the diary doubles as a record of what you learned
- A clear home screen with today's minutes, your goal bar and your streak
- Stats per language, including which language got the most minutes
- A calm, warm design that stays out of the way
What Immersed does that My Language Time doesn't
- Builds you a plan first, from your time, your goals and your level
- Puts that plan on a daily timeline with reminders and repeating tasks
- Times sessions instead of asking you to remember the minutes
- Knows nine immersion activities and asks how much you understood, so the report shows what your hours were made of
- Tells you what to watch, listen to and read, and gives you a feed that counts
- Reports for week, month, year and all time, exportable as PDF, Excel or CSV
- Runs in the browser on any phone or computer; its own Android app, in testing for Google Play, adds home-screen widgets, the session in the notification shade and playback with the screen off
Pick My Language Time if
- You want a free, simple diary on an Android phone and nothing else
- You want your log to stay on your device with no account and no internet
- You already know what you watch every day and only want a streak and a total
- You like writing a short note about each thing you watched or read
Pick Immersed if
- You want a plan that tells you how much to immerse and where it fits in your day
- You want a timer that knows passive listening from active subtitles
- You want help finding things at your level in your language
- You want reports you can export, share or keep, on any device
Use both, or move over
Start in the diary, move when you want a plan
My Language Time is a good first habit: log a show a day and watch the streak grow. When you start asking what your hours were made of, or what to watch next, that is where Immersed comes in. The blueprint is free and needs no account, so you can try it without giving anything up.
If you move over, Immersed has no importer for My Language Time and the Play listing describes no export, so your old entries would stay in the app. You can log a past session in Immersed by hand if you want the history in one place.

What each one costs.
Immersed
- Free: the blueprint for one language (with the Toolkit, Library picks and the Fluency Checklist's Foundations), the listening games in 12 languages with their leaderboards, Aim Runner, the Discord and the sample app. A free account also gets the Fitting Room's day-one outfits, Hour Marks and badges from game time.
- Immersed Pro: $60 a year (starts with a free week, about $5 a month) or $9.99 a month. Timeline, sessions with the nine activities, Discover, Library, Growth and reports, monthly Sprints, more languages.
My Language Time
- Free to download on Google Play, from LOGIC SH.P.K.
- No paid plan is described on the listing. Check the listing for anything that has changed.
If all you want is a private minute log on an Android phone, My Language Time costs nothing and Immersed costs about $5 a month on the yearly plan. What you pay Immersed for is the plan, the timer and activities, the library and the reports.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
Is My Language Time free?+
Yes. It is free on Google Play. The listing describes no subscription and no account. Immersed's blueprint is free; the daily tracker and reports are Immersed Pro at $60 a year or $9.99 a month.
Is My Language Time on iPhone?+
I only found it on Google Play for Android. Immersed runs in the browser on iPhone and Android and installs to the home screen like an app. Immersed's own Android app is in testing for Google Play, with nine home-screen widgets and the running session as a card in the notification shade.
Does either app track my Netflix or YouTube automatically?+
Neither reads your viewing history. In My Language Time you type in the minutes. In Immersed you press play when you start and stop when you finish, or log a session afterward. With Immersed for Chrome, one click on the YouTube page starts the session, and the Discover scroll and the free listening games log themselves.
Which one is more private?+
My Language Time keeps everything on your phone, with no account, no internet and no permissions. Immersed's blueprint needs no account, but the tracker uses one so your timeline and reports follow you between devices.
Can I move my My Language Time history into Immersed?+
Not automatically. The Play listing describes no export, and Immersed has no importer for it. Immersed can log past sessions by hand, and its CSV import reads files from Toggl or another app if you have one.
What does Immersed add on top of a diary?+
A plan from your answers, a daily timeline, a timer with nine immersion activities, comprehension ratings, a library and feed of things to watch in your language, and reports that show the mix of what you did, with your top shows and channels, that you can export.
