The extension counts your Chrome watch time. Immersed plans your whole day.
Language Learning Time Tracker is a small, free Chrome extension that notices when you watch or listen in your target language on YouTube, Dreaming Spanish, Dreaming French, Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and adds it to a calendar without you pressing anything. Immersed is a language immersion tracker and planner: a free plan built from your answers, then a daily timeline for the shows, podcasts and books you learn from, with reports of your hours.
Free. About two minutes. No account, no card.
The short version

Something out of date? Tell me.
If most of your immersion happens in Chrome on a computer and you never want to press start again, this extension does something Immersed does not: it tracks without a press, and it is free.
If you immerse away from the computer too (a podcast on the commute, a book, a show on the TV), or you want a plan for your day, things to watch, and reports you can export, Immersed is built for that. Immersed doesn't read your viewing history: you press play (one click on YouTube with Immersed for Chrome) or log it.
The extension adds up your minutes. Immersed shows what they were made of: which of nine activities, and how much you understood.
01In the browser
Automatic tracking is the real advantage here.
This is the honest headline. The extension sees what you watch on YouTube and the Dreaming sites, and what you listen to on Spotify and Apple Podcasts in Chrome, detects the language, and logs it. You don't remember to start a timer because there isn't one to start.
Immersed has its own extension, Immersed for Chrome, but it works differently: it doesn't read your history or count minutes without a press. On a YouTube page, one click on Immerse starts a session with the title and link on it. A pill shows the clock on every tab, later videos from the same playlist or creator join the running session on their own, and the popup shows Today and Week totals with a month heat map.
It's unlisted on the Chrome Web Store for now, and saving and sessions are Pro. Quick, but still a press: if you never want to press anything, this extension does that and Immersed doesn't.
- This extension: automatic in Chrome, manual entry for everything else
- Immersed: one click on YouTube with Immersed for Chrome, one tap in the app, or log it later
- In Immersed the Discover scroll and the free listening games log themselves, on a phone too

02Before you press play
A plan for the day, not only a count of it.
The extension answers "how much did I watch?" well. It does not tell you how much you should, or where it fits in a day with a job and a commute.
Immersed starts with a free blueprint, about two minutes of questions, that sets milestones for your first months, a daily protocol and Hidden Immersion Time, the passive listening hiding in your commute or chores. The timeline turns it into a day from Wake up to Wind down, with tasks, repeats and reminders.

03Beyond the browser
Immersion that does not happen in Chrome.
A lot of immersion happens on a phone, a TV or paper. The extension lets you add that by hand, but its strength is the browser on a computer, and its total isn't split by activity.
Immersed runs in the browser on phone and computer and installs to the home screen like an app. Every session is one of nine activities (Active Listening, Passive Listening, Active Subtitles, Reading, Study, SRS, Speaking, Writing, Shadowing), and you rate how much you understood. That's why two learners with the same hours can be in different places: one spent them on active subtitles at the right level, the other on background listening. Immersed shows which you did.
It also comes with an Immersion Library in 22 languages and Discover, a feed of creators and podcasts in your language that logs itself as you scroll.

04Looking back
A calendar and a level, or a full set of reports.
The extension shows daily, weekly, monthly and yearly totals on a visual calendar, plus a level that grows with your total hours. For checking consistency at a glance, that is enough for many learners.
Immersed's Growth page stacks each day by activity, charts comprehension over time, shows the days you showed up as a consistency grid with streaks, and lists your top shows and channels with links back to them. Export a PDF, Excel or CSV, or share a report link.
In place of a level, Immersed has the Fluency Checklist, stages of what an immerser has in place (Foundations free on the blueprint), and an Hours badge on your Profile that levels up from Newcomer at 1 hour to Legendary at 10,000.

What Language Learning Time Tracker does well
- Tracks automatically: watch or listen in Chrome and it logs the time without a timer
- Covers the sites immersion learners use most: YouTube, Dreaming Spanish, Dreaming French, Spotify and Apple Podcasts
- Detects the language of what you watch, so time lands on the right language
- Free, with no plan to compare
- A visual calendar that makes consistency easy to see
- Manual entries for the time you spend away from the browser
- Made for comprehensible input learners, with a level that grows with your hours
What Immersed does that Language Learning Time Tracker doesn't
- Builds you a plan first, from your time, your goals and your level
- Puts the plan on a daily timeline with reminders and repeating tasks
- Works the same on your phone as on your computer
- Knows nine immersion activities and asks how much you understood, so reports show what your hours were made of
- Tells you what to watch, listen to and read, and gives you a feed that logs itself
- Reports by week, month, year and all time, with your top shows and channels linked, exportable as PDF, Excel or CSV
Pick Language Learning Time Tracker if
- Most of your immersion is YouTube, Dreaming Spanish or Spotify in Chrome on a computer
- You keep forgetting to press start and want tracking that just happens
- You want to pay nothing
- A calendar of totals is all the reporting you need
Pick Immersed if
- You immerse on your phone, on a TV or with books as much as in a browser
- You want to see what your hours were made of, not only how many there were
- You want a plan that tells you how much to immerse and where it fits in your day
- You want help finding things at your level in your language
Use both, or move over
Using both
Some learners will want both: this extension to catch every YouTube minute in Chrome, Immersed for the plan, the timeline and everything that happens away from the computer. If you do, decide which one is your total, so the same hour is not counted twice.
The listing describes no export, so there is no file to bring into Immersed today. If one appears, Immersed's CSV import reads files from Toggl or another app and lets you check how the rows map.

What each one costs.
Immersed
- Free: the blueprint for one language (with the Toolkit, Library picks and the Fluency Checklist's Foundations), the listening games in 12 languages with their leaderboards, Aim Runner, the Discord and the sample app. A free account also gets the Fitting Room's day-one outfits for Aim, Hour Marks and badges from game time.
- Immersed Pro: $60 a year (starts with a free week, about $5 a month) or $9.99 a month. Timeline, sessions, saving and sessions in Immersed for Chrome, Discover, Library, Growth and reports, monthly Sprints, more languages.
Language Learning Time Tracker
- Free. The Chrome Web Store listing says it is completely free to use.
For counting Chrome minutes without a press, the extension costs nothing and Immersed doesn't match it: Immersed for Chrome starts a session in one click, but you still click. What you pay Immersed for is the plan, the timeline, the nine activities, the library and the reports, across every device.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
Does Immersed track YouTube or Spotify automatically like this extension?+
No. Immersed doesn't read your history, and nothing counts without a press. With Immersed for Chrome, one click on a YouTube page starts a session with the title on it, and videos from the same playlist or creator join it on their own. If tracking with no press at all matters most to you, this extension does it and Immersed doesn't.
Is Language Learning Time Tracker free?+
Yes. The Chrome Web Store listing says it is completely free to use.
Which sites does it track?+
The listing names YouTube, Dreaming Spanish, Dreaming French, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Other time can be added by hand.
Does it work on my phone?+
It is a Chrome extension, so it runs in Chrome on a computer. Immersed runs in the browser on any phone or computer and installs to the home screen like an app; a native Android app is in testing for Google Play.
How established is it?+
It is young and small. When I checked on 2026-10-24 the listing showed 19 users, no ratings yet, and version 1.1.2 from March 29, 2026, by the developer rustamniy. Check the listing for current numbers.
What does Immersed add if I already use the extension?+
A plan from your answers, a daily timeline, nine immersion activities with comprehension ratings, a library and feed of things to watch in your language, and reports that show what your hours were made of, which you can export.
