Immersed vs Dreaming Spanish

Dreaming Spanish is what you watch. Immersed plans the day and records all of it.

Dreaming Spanish (and Dreaming French) is a library of comprehensible input videos for every level, with a built-in tracker that counts your hours and maps them to a seven-level roadmap. Immersed is a language immersion tracker and planner: a free plan built from your answers, then a daily timeline for the shows, podcasts and books you learn from, with reports of your hours.

Free. About two minutes. No account, no card.

The short version

Checked October 24, 2026. Something out of date? Tell me.

If you are learning Spanish or French and most of your input is their videos, Dreaming is excellent: the content is made for your level, and it counts your watch time for you with no button to press.

If your immersion spreads across Netflix, YouTube, podcasts, books and Dreaming, and you want one plan for the day and one record of all of it, Immersed does that, for any language. Many learners use both: Dreaming for the videos, Immersed for the day around them.

Dreaming's number is total input hours. Immersed adds what those hours were made of: which of nine activities, how much you understood, and which shows and channels, because your 1,000 hours and someone else's 1,000 aren't the same.

01What each one is

They make the content. Immersed plans and tracks the whole day.

Dreaming's core is the videos: thousands of them, all in the target language, from Superbeginner to Advanced, made by a team of teachers who use drawings, gestures and context so you can follow without translation. The tracker is built around those videos.

Immersed doesn't make videos. It plans, tracks and shows your immersion wherever it happens. The free blueprint asks about your time, goals, level and what you already watch, then gives you milestones for your first months, a daily protocol and Hidden Immersion Time, the parts of your day where passive listening fits.

The example blueprint: a two-hour protocol of Dead Time Listening, Focused Visual Immersion and a Vocab Surgical Strike, with a Shadowing bonus round
From the example blueprint: a two-hour day, block by block.

02Tracking

Dreaming counts the hours. Immersed shows what they were made of.

Dreaming's best feature is that you don't track anything while watching their videos: the hours count themselves. You set a daily goal, earn weekly streaks and achievements, and see your level, total hours and time to the next level. For immersion outside the platform, a free account lets you add time by hand, with a description.

Immersed is the opposite shape. It doesn't read your viewing history: you press play (one click on YouTube with Immersed for Chrome) or log a session afterward. The Discover scroll and the free listening games log themselves. In return it covers every source. Pick one of nine activities (Active Listening, Passive Listening, Active Subtitles, Reading, Study, SRS, Speaking, Writing, Shadowing), paste a YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts link to play it inside the session, and rate how much you understood.

That's what makes an hour more than an hour. A Dreaming episode you follow closely and a podcast in the background while you cook are both an hour of input, and they don't do the same thing. Immersed's reports stack your hours by activity, chart your comprehension over time and link back to the shows and channels you spent the most time with, so you can see why your Spanish moved this month, or why it didn't.

03Your day

Where the next hour of input fits.

Dreaming tells you how many hours you have and roughly how many until the next level. It doesn't plan when you'll get them around a job, a commute and a gym session.

Immersed does. The timeline runs from Wake up to Wind down: plan tasks into free gaps, repeat them, get reminders, tick them off. The play button can default to Passive Listening, which suits Dreaming audio on the commute or the dishes.

  • A Dreaming episode, a Netflix show and a podcast all land on the same timeline
  • Growth shows time by activity, comprehension over time and your top items
  • Export a PDF, Excel or CSV, or share a report link

04After Dreaming

Native Spanish from your region, when you are ready for it.

Dreaming makes content in Spanish and French. If you're learning one of those, its library is one of the best places to start from zero.

Immersed doesn't make videos, but it points you to native ones. The Library covers 22 languages with the platforms native speakers use (streaming, public broadcasters, podcasts, radio, news, games on Steam), and for Spanish you can filter it by region: Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile or Latin America in general. Discover is a feed of native creators and podcasts in 11 languages, Spanish and French among them, and scrolling it logs itself as immersion.

Immersed tracks any language. If you're learning Spanish and Korean at once, both live in one app.

What Dreaming Spanish does well

  • Content made for your level from absolute zero, so input is comprehensible from day one
  • Hours on their videos are tracked automatically, with nothing to press
  • A clear seven-level roadmap that tells you roughly how far you have to go
  • A free way to add hours from outside the platform, so the total can include Netflix and podcasts
  • Daily goals, weekly streaks, achievements and shareable profiles
  • An iPhone and iPad app with offline downloads and background audio
  • A large, friendly community, and a library that grows with new videos every week

What Immersed does that Dreaming Spanish doesn't

  • Plans immersion into your actual day on a timeline, with repeating tasks and reminders
  • Tracks every source the same way, with nine activities and a comprehension rating, and shows your hours by activity
  • Plays YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts links inside the session
  • Points you to native content across platforms, with Spanish filtered by region, and a Discover feed that logs itself
  • Works for any language, not only Spanish and French
  • Exports reports as PDF, Excel or CSV and keeps monthly reports

Pick Dreaming Spanish if

  • You're a beginner in Spanish or French and need content you can actually understand
  • Most of your input is their videos and you want it tracked automatically
  • You want one simple number, total input hours, tied to a level roadmap
  • You only want to pay for one thing, and the content matters more than the plan

Pick Immersed if

  • Your immersion spreads across Netflix, YouTube, podcasts, books and Dreaming
  • You want a plan for when each hour happens, not only a count after
  • You want to see time by activity and how your comprehension changes
  • You learn a language Dreaming doesn't cover, or more than one language

Use both, or move over

Watch on Dreaming, plan and track in Immersed

Use Dreaming for what it does best: the videos. Put them on your Immersed timeline as a repeating task, and press play in Immersed when you start a Dreaming session so it counts alongside your Netflix shows, podcasts and reading.

Dreaming will still count its own hours, which is a handy check on your level. Immersed gives you the full picture: every source, by activity, with comprehension over time.

Pricing · checked October 24, 2026

What each one costs.

Immersed

  • Free: the blueprint for one language (with the Toolkit, Library picks and the Fluency Checklist's Foundations), the listening games in 12 languages with their leaderboards, Aim Runner, the Discord and the sample app. A free account also gets the Fitting Room's day-one outfits, Hour Marks and badges from game time.
  • Immersed Pro: $60 a year (starts with a free week, about $5 a month) or $9.99 a month. Timeline, sessions, Discover, Library, Growth and reports, more languages.

Dreaming Spanish

  • Free: an account with a limited set of videos, the hours tracker and time outside the platform.
  • Premium: about $8 a month on the web for one language, for the full video library.
  • Premium Double: about $12 a month on the web for Spanish and French.
  • In the iPhone app the App Store lists Premium at $9.99 and Premium Double at $14.99. Their FAQ says there is no yearly or family plan for now.

Dreaming and Immersed don't do the same job, so many learners pay for both: Dreaming for the videos, Immersed for the plan and the record of everything else. If all your input is Dreaming videos, their built-in tracker may be all you need. Check their premium page for the price in your currency.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

How much does Dreaming Spanish cost?+

When I checked on 24 October 2026, Premium was about $8 a month on the web for one language and about $12 for Spanish and French together. The App Store lists $9.99 and $14.99 inside the iPhone app. There is a free account with a limited set of videos, and their FAQ says there is no yearly plan for now.

Does Dreaming Spanish track outside hours?+

Yes. Hours on their videos are counted automatically, and with a free account you can add time from outside the platform by hand, with a description. Immersed tracks every source the same way: press play or log the session.

Can I track Dreaming Spanish in Immersed?+

Yes. Start a session in Immersed when you watch, or log it afterward. Pick Active Listening, or Passive Listening if it is audio in the background, and rate how much you understood.

Does Immersed track Dreaming videos automatically?+

No. Immersed doesn't watch your viewing history on any platform. You press play in Immersed or log the session. With Immersed for Chrome, one click on the YouTube page starts the session, and the Discover scroll logs itself. Dreaming counts its own videos automatically, which is one reason to keep using its tracker too.

What are the Dreaming Spanish levels?+

Dreaming uses a roadmap of seven levels based on hours of input, from Superbeginner videos at level 1 to native content at level 7. Immersed doesn't use levels. It has a Fluency Checklist: 32 things an immerser has in place, in four stages, where each stage asks for habits ticked as well as hours. The first stage, Foundations, is free on the blueprint.

Is there Dreaming for other languages?+

Dreaming covers Spanish and French. Immersed tracks any language. Its Library covers 22 languages, and the blueprint's hand-picked Toolkit 11, including Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and German.
