Immersed vs Lingotrack

Lingotrack logs what you consumed. Immersed plans what today holds.

Lingotrack is a free, social website for logging the books, shows, manga and podcasts you get through in your language, with a crowdsourced media database rated by learners, heatmaps and weekly leaderboards. Immersed is a language immersion tracker and planner: a free plan built from your answers, then a daily timeline for the shows, podcasts and books you learn from, with reports of your hours.

Free. About two minutes. No account, no card.

The short version

Checked October 24, 2026. Something out of date? Tell me.

If you read novels, manga or webnovels and want to log pages and episodes against each title, find media other learners rated for difficulty, and see what friends are logging, Lingotrack is excellent, and most of it is free.

If you want a plan for how much to immerse and where it fits in your day, a timer that knows passive listening from active subtitles, and reports built around your hours, Immersed is built for that. Immersed has no hours leaderboard or follower feed (its leaderboards are for its listening games), and its tracker is paid.

Lingotrack counts what you got through. Immersed shows what your hours were made of, which is why two learners with the same total can be in very different places.

01Before you start

A library of what you finished, or a plan for what you do today.

Lingotrack is built around titles. You add a book or a show to your library, then log progress against it: 17 pages, three episodes, 40 minutes. Automatic goals move as you log, so "10 sections of The Hobbit" fills itself in. It is a reading log and a watch list that also counts your time.

Immersed starts with your day instead of your shelf. A free blueprint, about two minutes of questions, sets milestones for your first months, a daily protocol, and Hidden Immersion Time: the commute, the dishes, the gym, where passive listening fits. The timeline then turns that into a day from Wake up to Wind down that you plan and tick off.

  • Free blueprint in about two minutes, no account needed
  • Plan tasks into the free gaps of your day, repeat them, get reminders
  • The Fluency Checklist (its Foundations free) and monthly Sprints on Pro for what to work on next
The example blueprint: a two-hour protocol of Dead Time Listening, Focused Visual Immersion and a Vocab Surgical Strike, with a Shadowing bonus round
From the example blueprint: a two-hour day, block by block.

02Logging it

Name your own activities, or nine that are already set up.

Lingotrack gives you one-click shortcuts for things you repeat ("30 minutes of Anki"), a form for anything else, and on Pro a stopwatch and voice logging: say "10 minutes and 17 pages of number 1" and GPT-4 drafts the logs. Activities can be anything you name.

Immersed's timer is on Pro: press play, pick one of nine activities (Active Listening, Passive Listening, Active Subtitles, Reading, Study, SRS, Speaking, Writing, Shadowing), stop, and it lands on your timeline. Paste a YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts link and it plays inside the session. Rate how much you understood. Forgot to press play? Log it afterward.

The fixed list is the point. Hours are one number, and the mix is what explains progress. Because every session is one of the same nine, Immersed's reports can show what your hours were made of: how much was passive listening, how much active subtitles, and whether comprehension rose with it.

  • The play button can default to one activity, like Passive Listening on the commute
  • With Immersed for Chrome, one click on a YouTube page starts the session with the title on it
  • Immersed never reads your history; the Discover scroll and the free listening games log themselves
This week, as one picture: every activity, every day

03What to put on

Two different ways to find your next thing.

Lingotrack's database is its best feature. Learners add media and tag it, rate difficulty, compare titles against each other, write reviews, and build collections ordered from easy to hard. Some entries carry unique word counts. It covers hundreds of languages, and because the community writes it, the depth depends on how many learners share your language.

Immersed takes a curated route. Its Library covers 22 languages with the platforms native speakers use, sorted by kind (streaming, public broadcasters, webtoons, manga, web novels, news, podcasts, radio, games on Steam, live streams), with region and dialect filters for Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese and English. The free blueprint shows picks from the main platforms for Watch, Listen and Read; the full Library is Pro.

Discover, also on Pro, is a feed of creators and podcasts in your language (11 languages), where scrolling counts as immersion and logs itself.

The Immersion Library's For You picks: beginner-friendly creators in your language
The Library: picks in your language, marked by level.

04Looking back

A public profile, or a private report.

Lingotrack is social by design. You get a public profile, followers, a feed of what people you follow logged, weekly leaderboards of the most hours, shared reading and watching challenges, journals and reviews. Stats include graphs, streaks and a heatmap. You can download everything (logs, library, journals) as CSV files in one ZIP.

Immersed's Growth page is private and built around what your time was made of: each day stacked by the nine activities, comprehension over time, a consistency grid with your streak, and your top shows and channels with links back to them. Export a PDF, Excel or CSV, keep monthly reports in My reports, or share a report link when you want to.

Its social side is smaller. The free listening games have all-time leaderboards, a top 10 per game and language, and tapping a row opens a player's card if they turned it on. There are share cards with Aim, the mascot (your mission, your Language Day, your week), and the Discord. There is no hours leaderboard, no followers and no feed.

What Lingotrack does well

  • A crowdsourced media database with difficulty ratings, comparisons, reviews and unique word counts, which native sites like Goodreads never give you
  • Collections ordered from easy to hard, so you can see what to read after your first manga
  • Logging by title: pages, episodes and sections, with goals that update as you log
  • A real community: followers, weekly leaderboards, shared reading and watching challenges
  • A generous free plan and a $3 Pro plan
  • Voice logging on Pro: say what you did and the logs are drafted for you
  • Hundreds of languages, from Cantonese to Taiwanese Hokkien
  • Full CSV export of logs, library and journals

What Immersed does that Lingotrack doesn't

  • Builds you a plan first, from your time, your goals and your level
  • Knows the nine immersion activities, so reports show what your hours were made of, day by day
  • Asks how much you understood, and charts comprehension over time
  • Plans your day on a timeline from Wake up to Wind down, with reminders
  • Starts a session in one click on YouTube with Immersed for Chrome, and plays YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts links inside the session
  • Gives you Discover, a feed in your language where scrolling logs itself
  • Dresses Aim, its mascot, in outfits earned only by immersing, with Profile badges that level up and monthly Sprints with a medallion

Pick Lingotrack if

  • You mostly read books, manga or webnovels and want to log pages against each title
  • You want followers and a weekly hours leaderboard to keep you going
  • You want to find media other learners have rated for difficulty
  • You track one language and want to pay nothing, or several and pay $3 a month

Pick Immersed if

  • You want a plan that fits your actual day, not just a log of it
  • You want to see what your hours were made of: passive listening, active listening, active subtitles and the rest
  • You want to track how much you understood, not only how much you watched
  • You want private reports you can export as PDF or Excel

Use both, or move over

Library in one, day in the other

Some learners keep a shelf in one place and a schedule in another. Lingotrack is a good shelf: what you read, how hard it was, what to read next, and what your friends are on. Immersed is the day: when the listening happens, the timer, and the report at the end of the month.

If you move over, Lingotrack lets you download your logs as CSV. Immersed's CSV import reads Toggl exports and files from other apps (choose Other), so check the help pages and how the rows map before you rely on it.

Pricing · checked October 24, 2026

What each one costs.

Immersed

  • Free: the blueprint for one language (with the Toolkit, Library picks and the Fluency Checklist's Foundations), the listening games in 12 languages with their leaderboards, Aim Runner, the Discord and the sample app. A free account also gets the Fitting Room's day-one outfits for Aim, Hour Marks and badges from game time.
  • Immersed Pro: $60 a year (starts with a free week, about $5 a month) or $9.99 a month. Timeline, sessions, Discover, Library, Growth and reports, monthly Sprints, more languages.

Lingotrack

  • Free: unlimited activity and media logging, unlimited collections, graphs and statistics, for one language.
  • Pro: $3 a month (USD), with yearly billing at two months off. Adds unlimited languages, plus the stopwatch and AI voice logging. A 7-day refund if it is not for you.

Lingotrack is one of the cheapest trackers there is, and for one language most of it is free. Immersed costs more, about $5 a month on the yearly plan, and what you pay for is the plan, the timeline, the nine activities and the reports built around your immersion hours.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

Is Lingotrack free?+

Mostly. Logging, collections and stats are free for one language. Pro is $3 a month and adds unlimited languages, the in-site stopwatch and AI voice logging. Yearly billing takes two months off.

Does Lingotrack have an app?+

Lingotrack is a website. I didn't find a native app on its site. Immersed also runs in the browser and installs to your home screen, has a Chrome extension, Immersed for Chrome, and a native Android app is in testing for Google Play.

Does Immersed have a media database like Lingotrack?+

Not a crowdsourced one. Immersed has a curated Library in 22 languages, sorted by the platforms native speakers use, and Discover, a feed of creators and podcasts in your language. Lingotrack lets learners rate difficulty and review titles themselves.

Does Immersed have leaderboards or followers?+

Leaderboards, yes, for its free listening games: an all-time top 10 per game and language, with an opt-in public profile. Followers and an hours leaderboard, no. Reports are private unless you share a report link, and learners talk in the Discord. If a weekly hours leaderboard keeps you going, Lingotrack has one.

Do either of them track automatically?+

Neither reads your viewing history. In Lingotrack you click a shortcut, fill in a log or, on Pro, speak it. In Immersed you press play or log a session afterward; with Immersed for Chrome, one click on a YouTube page starts the session with the title on it, and the Discover scroll and the free listening games log themselves.

Can I move my Lingotrack history into Immersed?+

Lingotrack exports your logs, library and journals as CSV files. Immersed's CSV import reads Toggl exports and files from other apps, and maps them to languages and activities. Check the help pages before moving a Lingotrack file across.

Stop guessing. See what your hours add up to.

Answer a few questions and Immersed builds your plan: a daily routine that fits your life, milestones for your first months, and things to watch at your level. Free, about two minutes, no account needed.

The plan is free and stays free. No card.
